Microlino: the story so far POSTED ON 22/01/2018
INSPIRED BY THE PAST, ENGINEERED FOR THE FUTURE
The Micro Lino story
The Micro Lino was inspired by the iconic BMW Isetta, which was originally developed in the 1950’s and sold after the war as an affordable transport solution.
In collaboration with the university ZHAW in Zurich, Micro have harnessed the charm of the original concept in its redesign and have developed it into an electric car for the future.
The modern version owned by Micro is filled to the brim with the retro spirit of the hero product as intended.
THE FIRST PROTOTYPE
2015 saw the decision to produce the very first Microlino prototype.
It was unveiled to the public at the Geneva Motor Show in 2016 and it received more than 500 reservations in one week. In total, more than 2600 reservations were made in 2016.
MADE IN ITALY
In April 2016 a joint-venture began with Italian car manufacturer Tazzari. They have more than ten years experience in the development and production of electric cars and have sold a few thousand of their Tazzari ZERO worldwide. The Microlino will be produced in 2018 at their facilities in the heart of the famous Motor Valley in Italy.
MICROLINO AROUND THE WORLD
The focus will be on the European market first, but other markets will follow soon thereafter as licenses will be granted worldwide. We will start the production in 2018.
