Our 3in1 and 4in1 toddler trikes have been designed to ease your child into their life on wheels from age 12 months plus. Using the first stage of each product you can quickly set up the seat and stem with footrests and allow your child to begin moving on wheels. The PU wheels mean a mark free ride indoors and the addition of the parent handle means you can slowly ease your child into the experience of motion helping to control the movement of their trike when outdoors.
The average age for a child to start using one of the Mini to grow products is 12 months and onwards. This product is developed to grow with your child until an average age of 5 or 6. Once your child masters the sit and ride aspect of scooting they will want to start their stand and scoot stage. Every child will develop at their own rate, but there are a few key indicators that your child is ready to get the hang of standing scooting.
Can they walk? - If your child can walk, chances are they can scoot. Their scooter has been made to be light enough for them to pick up and the brake designed to allow little feet to press down and slow the scooter. Moving left to right is intuitive with the lean to steer that they will learn whilst seated and naturally take with them as a skill when they are ready to stand and scoot.
Are they able to focus on one task? Being able to focus on one task is also a good indication that your child is ready to move to standing scooting. Scooters are intuitive for little children; often they will stand and go without instructions! Your child will already be used to the motion of wheels and the mechanism of steering by leaning, they will need to master the brake so edge them into stand and scoot slowly and allow them to learn to brake safely
There is no set time frame, all children are different, and all will learn to ride their scooter at their own pace. Using the seat in stage one of their journey allows your toddler to gain confidence on wheels and master how to lean to steer. This quickly builds confidence and balance and will urge them onto independent scooting and allowing them to move to standing braking. It is usual that by the age of 2 your child will be wanting to stand and scoot.
The best age for your child to start their journey is 12 months+. Simply attach the seat to the starter stem and your child is immediately able to sit and push with their legs using the scooter as a trike. Add the parent steering pole once you are confident they can hold onto the T-bar and you can gentle guide them as they ride. Your toddler will quickly become curious about stand and scoot and so each product cleverly converts to a standard scooter so they can interchange between trike and standing scooter. Our newly developed 4in1 has the added advantage of two T-bars one developed specifically for the younger child and the other our standard T-bar that will extend to a height suitable for most 5 to 6 year olds.
Micro offer two different Mini 2 Grows, all come with everything you need to give them a sit and ride that converts longer term to a standing scooter for ages 12 months+ to 6 years:
