Our top 6 iconic Parisian Venues being used during the 2024 Paris Olympics

Micro Scooters is honoured to support Team GB with our officially licensed range of Team GB scooters as they head into a summer of Olympic and Paralympic competition.
Where will Team GB compete in Paris 2024?

Paris 2024 promises to be one of the most spectacular Olympic and Paralympic Games yet, and not only because of the unrivalled competition and sporting prowess. Paris is one of the most iconic cities in the world, boasting arguably the most recognisable cityscape there is, and many of those famous landmarks will host temporary sports pitches and arenas during the Games. From Beach Volleyball under the Eiffel Tower to dancing horses in the gardens of Versailles to an opening ceremony unlike any other, Paris is going all out to make this year’s games one to remember for spectators and competitors alike.

What are the Paris 2024 venues?

Here are our top six EPIC Paris 2024 venues:

No. 6. Stade de France – athletics, rugby 7’s, Para-athletics

With a capacity of just over 77,000, making it France's biggest stadium, the Stade de France will transform into the Olympic Stadium for the duration of the Games. Built originally for the 1998 Football World Cup, the past 30 years have seen the Stade de France host international World finals for Rugby, Athletics and Football, as well as many national sports and music concerts. During the Games, it will host Athletics, Para-athletics and Rugby Sevens.

No. 5. Place de la Concorde – Urban Sports – skateboarding, freestyle BMX, 3x3 Basketball, Breaking.

Urban sports will be showcased in their natural environment in Paris, with a temporary open-air arena being created at Place de la Concorde to house skateboarding, 3x3 basketball, freestyle BMX, and breaking competitions. A significant redesign of the area has been implemented to increase pedestrianisation and to create more green spaces to create a veritable urban oasis. The newest sport on the block, Breaking, will be making its Olympic debut in Paris, and expectations are high amongst the relatively small breaking scene that the sport and competitors, such as Team GB’s Karam Singh, will shine on the world stage.

No. 4. The River Seine – Opening Ceremony

The Olympic opening ceremony, for the very first time, will not be held in a stadium. France’s vision for the ceremony is ambitious and unique, with each country being allocated its own boat/barge and floating in procession from the East of the city to the west along its main artery, the river Seine! The final elements of the show will take place in front of the Trocadero. Only those who want the seating right on the riverside will be required to buy tickets. All other vantage points will be ticket-free.

No. 3. Chateau de Versaille – Equestrianism + Modern Pentathlon

First built as a simple hunting lodge, the Château de Versailles housed the court of Louis XIV in 1682 and emerged as the epicentre of French royalty. From 1883, along with its magnificent gardens, it became a national museum open to the public and the first French site to be awarded UNESCO World Heritage status in 1979.

A temporary outdoor arena will be erected on the Etoile Royale esplanade west of the Grand Canal, at the heart of the Palace of Versailles's gardens. This arena will host two eventing disciplines (dressage test and showjumping) as well as the showjumping and dressage competitions (Olympic and Paralympic). The individual and team eventing cross-country phase will be held alongside the Grand Canal, while four out of the five modern pentathlon events will also take place at the Château de Versailles.

No. 2. Eiffel Tower & Champs da Mas – Eiffel Tower stadium will host Beach Volleyball and Blind Football.

Does it get more iconically French than the Eiffel Tower? Between the Ecole Militaire’s impressive facade to the south and the equally remarkable Eiffel Tower on the River Seine side, the Champ de Mars will be a community space for meeting up during the Paris 2024 Games as well as housing a temporary overlay stadium to stage the beach volleyball and blind football events. For Paris natives, the Champ de Mars is a place to congregate and celebrate, and the organisers hope this will continue throughout the Games.

No. 1. Tahiti – Surfing

For the surfing events, the Olympics move from the urban metropolis of Paris to the unrivalled natural beauty of Tahiti in French Polynesia, embracing France’s ambition to engage all French territories and showcase its 'rich and diverse heritage'. The waves at Teahupo’o will undoubtedly offer an Olympic-class challenge for the athletes lucky enough to compete and will treat fans in Tahiti and worldwide to a breathtaking experience. The Tahiti Olympic Surfing contests will be a one-of-a-kind competition in a location that surfers the world over revere. Explicitly designed to protect the island's extraordinary natural surroundings, the event will not affect the coastline detrimentally because the waves break offshore.
