Give someone the special surprise of receiving an unexpected letter. Whether it be a note to an old people’s care home, a family member, or someone famous. Put pen to paper and tell them all about an exciting thing that you are up to this summer holiday. Scoot to post it. Be sure to include your address, for maximum chance of a reply.
Inspired by abstract line artists such as Picasso can you get your child to recreate a masterpiece? We recommend an old roll of wallpaper and some water-based paints using scooter wheels to make tracks across the paper. Just remember to wash down those wheels once finished (oh and add your signature to the masterpiece)
Using your scooter, draw around the basic shape of its shadow onto the pavement with chalk. Then turn the shape into something more creative. What can you see? Is the handlebar the mast of a pirate ship, or perhaps the very long neck of a giraffe…? Don’t forget to take a photo of your masterpiece.
The premise is simple. Two teams, two pirate ships (buckets). Scoot in turn to capture all the treasure from the pirate ship and return to your team. The team that is the fastest on their scooter wins. Mix up the teams and try again. If it’s easy peasy on a scooter then, mix it up by adding Micro skates into the mix. Now you’re talking…
Scoot to the library this summer to peruse the latest releases, join a workshop, or get involved in the summer reading challenge. Most libraries have plenty of free activities planned for the summer so pop along to see what’s what. Don’t forget to take a rucksack to ensure you can return home with all the books to fuel the mind of your newfound bookworm.
Calling the new generation of inventors and engineers! Giving children the opportunity to explore materials and their properties (strength of cardboard, bendiness of plastic) is an invaluable STEM task. Junk modelling is brilliant for creativity and it gives your child confidence to understand the world around them.
Not always are the best rounders players the fastest runners, that’s our excuse and we are sticking to it! Why not up the ante a notch of ‘normal’ rounders by giving those in bat a scooter to help them on their way. Alternatively, line up some cones, weave through a slalom, make a ramp, then time how fast it takes to race from a to b. Can you beat your previous time?
Using a scooter as a prop can you recreate some pavement art with your child and then photograph it from a birds-eye view? The possibilities are as wide as your own imagination and this one is guaranteed to create a masterpiece that’s canvas ready.
Capture the adventures of your summer scoots and create a scrapbook of the memories for your little one to look back on in years to come. Even better, get children involved with the sticking and colouring for maximum nostalgia in the memory box.
Start with a child-led scoot to encourage decision-making and independence. Follow it up with an exploration to find make-believe treasure. Can you find secret doorways in trees, acorn pixie hats, parrot feathers or giants teeth?
The next set of adventures will soon be upon us, so ensure that you’ve got everything you need to make them a success. A quick check-over handle grips and a quick test of the brake will soon tell you if you are in need of a replacement. We stock spare parts for all our scooters and each can be found via a rather easy little tool on our website. Click here to visit our spares page.
Before any good scoot can commence, it’s important to ensure a full service and MOT. Check the wheels and the brakes are free from old adventures, clean off any old dirt or cobwebs and wipe down the handlebars and the deck to be doubly sure that nothing is amiss before the adventure can begin. We recommend that all our scooters are checked over regularly, to ensure that they are kept adventure-ready. Whilst this is essential for every serious scooter owner it is very easy for children to be involved.
