Meet Kai Francis, who has completed a remarkable journey: riding a Micro Scooter from Bristol to London in just 4 days. The total distance? Roughly 220 km (about 140 miles).

When Kai Francis looked at the map and saw London way off in the distance from Bristol, most would’ve laughed the idea off. But Kai, well, he packed his gear, hooked up his tent, and set off - on a trusted scooter: a Micro Speed Scooter, bought second-hand.
“When I set off, I knew the distance was serious, but I also knew I had a scooter I could trust. I ended up riding it for the duration of the challenge - all four days.”
What happened over the next four days would tell a story of a premium adventure, sheer determination and the kind of tale that easily turns into a legend.
A Journey Built on Quality
Kai didn’t rely on any old scooter. He put his trust in a second-hand Micro scooter. Even though he had a backup adult version tucked away “just in case”, his original Micro held up through every single stage and remained his trusty companion for the duration.
The design, engineering, and durability of Micro Scooters were put through one of the toughest real-world endurance tests a kick scooter could face, and they passed with flying colours.

What inspired you to complete the challenge?
A scooter was the only way I got around when I was a kid, but I realised I hadn't been on one since. This challenge was my way of reigniting that spark. To chase a bit of childhood nostalgia and turn it into the kind of adventure I could’ve only dreamed of back then.
Why did you choose Micro as your scooter of choice?
It was a silver Micro scooter I had as a kid, so it felt right to use one for this challenge, and I managed to find the exact same model.
Honestly, I didn't think it would survive the full journey. It's meant for children, was already well-loved when I got it, and, although I tried to avoid it, I had to take it over some rough gravel paths. But it did it without a single issue!
What was the moment you realised “I’m actually going to ride a scooter from Bristol to London”?
I thought that moment would come during my test ride, I did a 50 km day before starting the challenge, but actually, it didn’t make me any more certain I could pull it off.
Over the past year, I’ve taken on a few big challenges, like running 300 miles in a month and cycling the height of Kilimanjaro. If there’s one thing I’ve learned about myself, it’s that once I get an idea in my head, I find it hard not to see it through.
So I didn’t really have a particular moment, I just found myself planning routes, charging batteries, and suddenly… I was doing it.

Which song or playlist saved you?
Idles and Soft Play were my soundtrack for this journey. They got me through the tough stretches. If you listen closely to my YouTube video, you can hear a couple of references to them.
If your scooter had a name, what would it be? And did it earn that name by day four?
I hadn’t actually thought about giving it a name, so I asked my three-year-old nephew what he’d call it. His response was “Mine”. I always hope to inspire others with the ridiculous challenges I like to take on. So part of me hopes it made him want to get out and explore in his own way, too. But he was probably just worried I’d pinched his scooter.
Having made it, what’s your next “scooter challenge”?
I'm still planning the next one, but it's definitely going to be bigger and more ambitious. Head over to my socials to see the current suggestions, or throw in your own idea. For now, I'll just say this: it could involve crossing an entire country.
