Some organisations process personal data on our behalf as data processors. These include technology providers that help us operate, understand and personalise our website and communications.

Changes to this privacy notice
This privacy notice was last updated on 17 September 2026.
We may update it from time to time to reflect changes to our services, technology, legal obligations or the way we process personal data.
It is important that the personal data we hold about you is accurate and current. Please let us know if your information changes during your relationship with us.
2. The data we collect about you
Personal data means information about an individual from which that person can be identified. It does not include information where the identity has been removed so that an individual can no longer be identified.
We may collect, use, store and transfer the following types of personal data:
Identity Data includes your first name, last name, title, username or similar identifier.
Contact Data includes your billing address, delivery address, email address and telephone number.
Financial Data includes information required to process payments. Complete payment-card information is generally processed securely by our payment providers rather than stored by Micro Scooters.
Transaction Data includes details of payments, refunds, returns and products and services you have purchased from us.
Shopping and Checkout Data includes products you view or search for, products added to or removed from your basket, basket contents, your progress through checkout and whether a checkout or purchase is completed.
Technical Data includes IP address, browser type and version, time-zone setting and approximate location, operating system, platform, device information and other technology used to access our website.
Profile Data includes your account details, purchases and orders, interests, preferences, feedback and survey responses.
Usage Data includes information about how you use our website and services, including pages and products viewed, searches performed, browsing activity and interactions with website content.
Marketing and Communications Data includes your preferences for receiving marketing from us and records of your interactions with communications we send.
We may combine information from different interactions with you. For example, where we are able to identify you, information about your browsing, basket or checkout activity may be associated with your customer profile.
We use technology providers, including Salesfire, to help us understand interactions across visits and, where possible, associate website activity with an existing customer or profile.
We also use aggregated and anonymous information for statistical and analytical purposes. Where information has been effectively anonymised so that it can no longer identify an individual, it is not personal data.
We do not intentionally collect Special Category Personal Data through our ecommerce services, nor do we collect information about criminal convictions and offences.
If you fail to provide personal data
Where we need personal data to fulfil a contract with you or comply with a legal obligation and you do not provide it, we may be unable to provide the relevant product or service.
3. How is your personal data collected?
We use different methods to collect information from and about you.
Direct interactions
You may provide Identity, Contact, Financial, Transaction, Profile and Marketing Data when you:
-
purchase or attempt to purchase our products;
-
enter information during checkout;
-
create an account;
-
subscribe to our emails;
-
contact our customer service team;
-
make a return or warranty claim;
-
enter a competition, promotion or survey; or
-
provide feedback or a review.
Information entered during your shopping or checkout journey may be processed before an order is completed.
For example, if you enter an email address during checkout but do not complete your purchase, the email address and information relating to that incomplete checkout may be retained by our ecommerce and communications systems.
Providing contact information during checkout does not, by itself, mean that you have consented to receive general marketing from us.
Automated technologies or interactions
As you interact with our website, we may automatically collect Technical, Usage and Shopping Data about your device, browsing actions and patterns.
We collect some of this information using cookies, pixels, local storage, server logs and similar technologies.
This may include information about:
-
pages and products viewed;
-
searches performed;
-
products added to or removed from your basket;
-
checkout activity;
-
links and content interacted with;
-
referring websites or advertising campaigns;
-
device and browser information;
-
identifiers associated with your browser or device; and
-
interactions with communications we send.
Where consent is required for the use of a particular cookie or similar technology, we will request it through our cookie preference tools.
Salesfire
We use Salesfire Limited ("Salesfire") as a technology provider to help us understand how visitors interact with our website and to improve and personalise the shopping experience and our communications.
Salesfire may process information about interactions with our website, including products and pages viewed, searches, basket activity, purchase history, browsing behaviour, device or browser information and identifiers associated with website visits.
Where permitted, Salesfire's technology may help us recognise interactions across different visits and associate website activity with an existing customer or profile.
For example, where you subsequently identify yourself to us, information relating to earlier website interactions may be associated with your customer profile.
We use this information to help us:
-
understand how customers use our website;
-
understand product interests and shopping behaviour;
-
personalise website experiences;
-
improve our website and services;
-
understand when products have been left in a basket;
-
improve the relevance of communications to customers who are eligible to receive them; and
-
measure and improve the performance of our marketing.
Salesfire may provide relevant information to our other technology providers, including our email and communications platform, so that we can use that information for the purposes described in this notice.
The identification or recognition of a visitor by Salesfire does not itself mean that the visitor has consented to marketing or is eligible to receive marketing communications. We determine eligibility for electronic marketing separately in accordance with applicable law and the individual's marketing preferences.
Salesfire processes personal data on our behalf in connection with these services.
Third parties
We may also receive personal data from organisations providing services to us, including:
-
Shopify, which provides our ecommerce platform;
-
payment providers;
-
warehouse, delivery and fulfilment partners;
-
customer service providers;
-
email and communications platforms;
-
analytics and website technology providers;
-
advertising platforms where permitted by law and your choices; and
-
fraud prevention and security providers.
4. How we use your personal data
We only use your personal data where the law allows us to do so.
Depending on the purpose, we may rely on one or more of the following lawful bases.
Contract
We process personal data where it is necessary to perform a contract with you or take steps at your request before entering into a contract.
This includes:
-
operating our checkout;
-
processing and fulfilling orders;
-
taking payment;
-
arranging delivery;
-
providing order updates;
-
managing returns, refunds and exchanges; and
-
providing warranties and after-sales support.
Legitimate interests
We process personal data where necessary for our legitimate business interests, provided those interests are not overridden by your rights and interests.
This may include:
-
operating and improving our website;
-
understanding how customers use our website;
-
understanding browsing and shopping behaviour;
-
maintaining and improving the shopping experience;
-
analysing the performance of our products and services;
-
providing effective customer service;
-
preventing fraud and protecting our business and customers;
-
associating customer interactions across visits where appropriate; and
-
personalising our services and marketing where permitted by law.
Where we rely on legitimate interests, we consider the necessity of the processing, its potential impact on you and whether you would reasonably expect the processing to take place.
Relying on legitimate interests under UK GDPR does not override separate requirements applying to electronic marketing or cookies and similar technologies.
Consent
Where the law requires consent, we will ask for it.
This includes certain forms of electronic marketing and the use of non-essential cookies and similar technologies.
You can withdraw consent at any time.
Legal obligation
We process personal data where necessary to comply with legal obligations, including accounting, taxation, consumer protection and regulatory requirements.
5. Shopping, basket and checkout information
When you use our website, we process information about the products you view, searches you perform, your basket and your progress through checkout.
If you begin checkout and provide contact information but do not complete your purchase, information relating to that incomplete checkout may be retained.
Where technically possible, information collected during different stages or visits may subsequently be associated with you when you identify yourself or where our technology providers are able to associate that activity with an existing profile.
This may occur, for example, when you:
-
sign into an account;
-
provide your email address;
-
make a purchase;
-
interact with an email from us; or
-
are otherwise recognised as an existing customer or profile using permitted technologies.
We use this information to:
-
operate and maintain your shopping and checkout journey;
-
understand and improve our website and checkout;
-
understand customer interests and shopping behaviour;
-
personalise our services where permitted;
-
provide customer support;
-
prevent fraud;
-
measure the performance of our ecommerce services; and
-
provide communications where we have the necessary permission or other legal entitlement to do so.
Providing your email address during an incomplete checkout does not by itself mean that you have subscribed to receive general marketing from Micro Scooters.
6. Marketing
We want to give you control over how we communicate with you.
Email and electronic marketing
Where required by the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations ("PECR"), we will only send electronic marketing where we have consent or where another applicable provision of PECR permits us to do so.
You may choose to subscribe to Micro Scooters marketing, for example by selecting "Email me with news and offers" during checkout or through another signup form.
In certain circumstances, PECR permits us to send marketing about our own similar products and services without specific marketing consent where we obtained your contact details directly during a sale or negotiations for a sale.
We will only rely on this soft opt-in where the applicable requirements are satisfied, including that:
-
we obtained your contact details directly from you;
-
we obtained them during a sale or negotiations for a sale of a product or service;
-
the marketing relates to our own similar products or services;
-
you were provided with a clear and simple opportunity to refuse or opt out of that marketing when your details were collected; and
-
each subsequent communication provides a simple opportunity to opt out.
Where we rely on the soft opt-in, our UK GDPR lawful basis for processing your personal data for that marketing is generally our legitimate interests in promoting our products and services to people who have expressed an interest in them.
You can object to direct marketing at any time.
Every marketing email we send provides a way to unsubscribe. You can also contact us at info@micro-scooters.co.uk.
Opting out of marketing does not prevent us from sending necessary service communications relating to an order, return, warranty, account or other transaction.
Salesfire and personalised marketing
Salesfire may help us understand your interests based on your interactions with our website and associate those interactions with an existing customer or marketing profile.
This can help us make communications more relevant, for example by understanding products you have viewed or placed in your basket.
We only use this information to send electronic marketing where the applicable requirements for sending that communication have been satisfied. Identification by Salesfire does not itself constitute consent to electronic marketing.
Personalisation
Where permitted by law, we may use information about products you have viewed, purchased, searched for or placed in your basket to make communications and website experiences more relevant to you.
Advertising
We may work with advertising platforms to advertise Micro Scooters products on other websites and services.
Where cookies, pixels or similar technologies requiring consent are used for personalised advertising, we will only use those technologies after obtaining the required consent.
7. Cookies and similar technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies, including pixels, local storage and other storage or access technologies, to operate and secure our website, remember preferences, understand how our website is used and, where you permit us to do so, provide analytics, personalisation and advertising.
This includes technologies provided by Salesfire and our other technology partners.
Some technologies are strictly necessary for our website and services to function and may be used without consent where permitted by law.
For other technologies, we will request consent where required before storing information on, or accessing information from, your device.
You can manage your choices at any time through our cookie preference centre.
Our Cookie Policy and cookie preference centre provide further information about the technologies currently used on our website, their providers, purposes and duration.
Changing your cookie preferences will not necessarily delete personal data that was lawfully collected before you changed your preference. Any continued processing of that information remains subject to applicable data-protection law.
8. Disclosure of your personal data
We may share personal data with trusted organisations where necessary to operate our business and provide our services.
These include:
Ecommerce and technology providers, including Shopify and organisations supporting the operation and optimisation of our website.
Salesfire Limited, which provides website analytics, customer recognition, personalisation and remarketing technology and processes relevant website, browsing, shopping and customer-profile information on our behalf.
Email and communications providers, which help us manage customer communications and marketing preferences.
Payment providers to process transactions.
Warehouse, delivery and fulfilment providers to prepare and deliver orders.
Customer service providers to support customers and manage enquiries.
Analytics and technology providers that help us understand and improve our website and services.
Marketing and advertising providers, where permitted by law and in accordance with your preferences.
Professional advisers and IT providers supporting our business.
Government bodies, regulators, courts and law-enforcement authorities where required or permitted by law.
We may also disclose information in connection with a merger, acquisition, restructuring or sale of all or part of our business.
Where an organisation processes personal data on our behalf, we require it to use that information appropriately, securely and in accordance with our instructions and applicable data-protection law.
Where another organisation independently determines how it uses your personal data, it may act as a separate data controller and its own privacy notice will apply.
9. International transfers
Some of our technology and service providers may process personal data outside the United Kingdom.
Where personal data is transferred to a country that is not covered by UK adequacy regulations, we use an appropriate transfer mechanism as required by UK data-protection law.
This may include the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses or another legally recognised safeguard.
You can contact us if you would like further information about safeguards relating to international transfers of your personal data.
10. Data security
We have implemented appropriate technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data from accidental loss, unauthorised access, misuse, alteration or disclosure.
We limit access to personal data to employees, contractors and other organisations that have a legitimate business need for that information.
Where third parties process personal data on our behalf, we require appropriate security and confidentiality protections.
11. Data retention
We retain personal data only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, including satisfying legal, accounting, taxation and regulatory requirements.
For transaction and order records, we generally retain information for up to eight years, deleting it following the relevant financial year, where necessary for accounting, tax, contractual or legal purposes.
Website, browsing, profile and marketing information may be retained for shorter periods depending on why it was collected, whether you continue to interact with us and whether we have an ongoing lawful reason to retain it.
When determining an appropriate retention period, we consider:
-
the nature and amount of the information;
-
why we collected it;
-
whether we continue to need it;
-
legal and regulatory requirements; and
-
the potential risks associated with retaining it.
When personal data is no longer required, we delete or anonymise it in accordance with our retention procedures.
We may retain limited information about people who have opted out of marketing on a suppression list so that we can continue to respect that preference.
12. Third-party links
Our website may contain links to websites, applications or services operated by third parties.
Following those links may allow those organisations to collect or process information about you independently of Micro Scooters.
We do not control third-party websites and recommend that you read their privacy notices before providing personal information.
13. Children's data
Our ecommerce services are primarily intended for adults purchasing products for themselves or others.
We do not knowingly seek to collect personal data directly from children through our ecommerce services.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe that a child has provided personal data to us without appropriate authority, please contact us.
14. Your legal rights
Under UK data-protection law, depending on the circumstances, you have rights including:
Request access to personal data we hold about you.
Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal data.
Request erasure of your personal data in certain circumstances.
Object to processing based on legitimate interests in certain circumstances.
Request restriction of processing in certain circumstances.
Request transfer of certain personal data to you or another organisation.
Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent.
Object to direct marketing at any time.
Your right to object to direct marketing is absolute. If you ask us to stop using your personal data for direct marketing, we will do so, including stopping profiling to the extent that it relates to that direct marketing.
These rights are subject to certain legal conditions and exemptions.
We may need to request information from you to confirm your identity before responding to a request.
You will not normally have to pay a fee to exercise your rights.
To exercise any of these rights, please email info@micro-scooters.co.uk.
15. Complaints
If you have concerns about how we use your personal data, please contact us first and we will investigate your concerns.
You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data-protection regulator.
