There best scooters for a 4 year old are:

What is the difference between the Mini Micro Deluxe and Maxi Micro Deluxe Scooter for a 4 year old?

The main differences between a Mini Micro and Maxi Micro is the height of the handlebar and the weight of the scooter.

The Mini Micro Deluxe scooter has an adjustable handlebar that rises from 49cm to a maximum of 68cm high.

The Maxi Micro Deluxe scooter has an adjustable handlebar that rises 67cm to 92cm high.

  • The Mini Micro Deluxe is for shorter, lighter 4 year olds
  • The Maxi Micro Deluxe can be used by 4 year olds who are taller or heavier.

The Mini Micro Deluxe scooter is incredibly lightweight weighing only 1.9kg which is just over 4lbs. There is a reason for this. A lightweight scooter can be easily maneuvered and controlled by younger children. It makes it easier for them to steer and to lift over kerbs. It means a younger child is in total control. A heavier scooter for a 2-5 year old will mean less control.

The Maxi Micro Deluxe is specifically built for taller, older, heavier children. We recommend it for children around the ages of 5-12. However, it can be used by children who are 4. The Maxi Micro scooter weighs 2.5kg which is just over 5.5lbs. The heavier weight is best suited to a heavier, taller child who will be able to maneuver it and manage the extra weight.

SHOULD YOU CHOOSE A MINI MICRO OR MAXI MICRO FOR YOUR 4 YEAR OLD?

Choose a Mini Micro if:

  • Your child is under 4 or is under 110 cm
  • If your child is 4, stick with a Mini Micro if they are shorter or quite light

Do not feel tempted to go up to a Maxi Micro (unless your child is over 110cm) if your child is any younger than 4 as they will not be able to manage the extra weight or higher handlebars of the Maxi Micro. Stick with a Mini Micro as it has been specifically engineered for the 2-5 year old age group. They will build confidence by riding the Mini Micro as they will be comfortable with the height of the handlebars and weight of the scooter.

Choose a Maxi Micro if:

  • Your child is aged 5 or above
  • Your child is aged 4 and is tall and/or heavier

A Maxi Micro will last your child from ages 5-12. The handlebar can be adjusted to suit the height of your growing child. The footplate is longer to suit a child’s growing feet and to give them adequate room to stand on. The brake on the scooter is bigger making it easier for a child to use and stop the scooter in suitable time.
