Scootability: Helping schools to get children active since 2013

Working nationwide, Team Rubicon travel to schools to deliver fun and engaging workshops that empower children to develop their scoot safe skills.

They bring all the equipment and can make use of almost any space available. In one day they can coach up to 180 children.

All staff are of course DBS checked, have safeguarding training and have extensive third-party insurance too. We are also equipped to coach children with physical or mental disabilities.

“The Scootability framework is the only nationwide scheme that is trusted and recognized by schools, councils and youth organisations. Scooter coaching has already been delivered to over 100,000 children across the UK”

Well developed, comprehensive lesson plans

There are three progressive levels for Scootability – taking riders from complete beginner to confident traveller

Level 1

Scootability introduces pupils to the scooter for the first time. The aim is to establish the basic skills and knowledge to start riding safely in traffic free environments.

Level 2

Scootability is all about developing a strong understanding of spatial awareness. This will allow riders to navigate riding outside of school or protected sites more safely. This includes dealing with crowded pavements, learning how to cross roads, take blind corners, how to keep other pavement users safe and understanding skatepark etiquette.

Level 3

Scootability involves travelling off site (away from the school) to a fixed pre-chosen location and back again – making use of all the skills and knowledge gained. This is a guided exercise and will involve crossing roads, navigating pedestrians, using pavements safely and highlight real-life risks and points of note.
