With the summer holidays coming up, some of you will be planning to whisk away with the kids to somewhere with more sun, more sea and probably more sand in your sandwiches. But for those staying closer to home, there’s still plenty of adventure to be had! Whether that be a weekend staycation or just looking to add a bit of magic to your day-to-day, we’ve selected some of our favourite options for the “Ultimate Day In/Day Out”! Outdoor adventure and indoor fun, designed to spark joy from sunrise to story time. And the best part? Everything you need is just a click away.
Morning: Kickstart the Day!
Nothing gets little legs moving like a fresh-air scooter ride. Whether it’s a glide down the pavement or a zigzag around the park, Micro Scooter’s Micro Cruiser combines a smooth ride with light-up wheels. I mean, who doesn’t love light-up wheels? (Remember the light-up shoe craze of the '90s?) Pair it with a helmet and you’re all set for a morning of movement!
Afternoon: Let’s Play!
Back inside and ready to switch gears? The fun doesn’t stop just because you’re indoors! Whip out a puzzle like the Sonic The Hedgehog 3D Jigsaw Puzzle Ball from Ravensburger - that’ll keep your little one’s brains working in a fun way that doesn’t fall flat! Pair it with a classic board game like Monopoly (Willy Wonka style!) or up the ante a little with Dobble (Star Wars Mandalorian edition) for more of a fast-paced challenge!
Add to the ambience by popping Soundtrack Hits by John Williams on your record player- featuring music from Superman, Star Wars, Harry Potter, E.T., Indiana Jones and more! A suitable backdrop of nostalgia for those figurative battles (pun very much intended!)
Evening: Movie Magic!
As the sun begins to set, it's time to snuggle up. Let the kids help choose a flick - we’re loving Oscar-winner Flow - a no-dialogue animation about a cat trying to survive a vibrant and challenging world. Or introduce the kids to Disney classics, like the newly reissued Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs on 4K (although the old hag might keep them up!). Pop some corn, dim the lights, pile on the blankets, and make some memories!
Bedtime: Stories, Snuggles & Sleep
As eyelids get heavy, the evening’s winddown begins. Make it chill and easy with the perfect bedtime story. May we recommend having a look through our children’s books section - from baby and picture books featuring Bluey and Peppa Pig to older-kid fiction by the likes of Roald Dahl and Fiona Watt! Line up another record or CD to match the vibe, like the Bluey album, or something soothing to send your little ones off to dreamland.
Until tomorrow, whether it’s another fun-filled day or you’re in for a more chill one, Rarewaves has you covered.
