Micro was founded as a cleaner, greener, healthier way to get around. Our purpose is rooted in enabling positive change. Challenging the status quo and setting high standards is core to our DNA.

So setting ourselves the target of becoming a certified B Corp was a natural goal.It doesn’t change the fundamental reason we exist. But it will challenge us to go further and focus us on the areas that really count. And it will bring us together with other like minded businesses to strive for broader change.

Only A Teams make it as a B Corp

Any organisation that gains certification has been found to meet the highest standards and proven to deliver a positive impact both for our planet and the people on it.

And those standards must be consistently maintained to remain part of B Corp.

Stronger Together

Being a B Corp company means being part of a group of businesses that are all committed to the same goal.

Together we’re stronger. Able to use our collective voice to champion the issues that are critical to our planet’s future. Able to share our ideas and our skills to make change happen.

Together we influence governments and corporate leaders to support responsible business and help us journey towards an economy that works for all.

Together we inspire and enable consumers to change their everyday habits for the better.

JUST THE B-GINNING

The process for becoming a B Corp company is challenging. Gaining certification is very much the start, not the end of the process. Our certification score gives us clear direction on the areas we need to improve, and our annual impact report helps us to monitor our progress. Needing to re-certify every three years pushes us to constantly raise the bar.

We used the B Impact Assessment (BIA), a third-party standard created by B Lab (the non-profit behind the B Corp movement), to measure our impact.

The BIA scores companies on a 0-200 point scale. The average score is 40-60 points. Companies interested in becoming Certified B Corporations are required to score 80 points or higher.

New Horizons

The B Corp Standards are evolving, and we aim to evolve with them.

Micro Scooters Ltd is certified under B Lab's V1.6 certification standards.

B Lab has introduced a new generation of certification standards for all Certified B Corps (V2.1). As part of this transition, we have signed B Lab's transitional amended agreement and have committed to recertifying under the new standards at our next scheduled recertification in 2028.

Until then, we remain a Certified B Corporation in accordance with B Lab's certification requirements.

In 2025 we re-certified with a BIA score of 100.5

Increased from 95.2 in 2022. Our goal is to improve our score by at least 5% each time we re-certify.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is B Corp certification?

B Corp certification is an independent certification awarded by B Lab. Our business practices are certified on environmental, social, and governance standards.

We strive to be transparent and accountable for our impact and adapt our practices to reflect evolving social and environmental issues—aligning with consumer demands and values.

Unlike many certifications, B Corp assesses how a business operates as a whole, considering its impact on employees, customers, communities and the environment.

Why is Micro Scooters a Certified B Corporation?

Micro Scooters became a Certified B Corporation™ because we believe businesses should create positive value for their customers, employees, communities and the environment, while continuing to operate responsibly and transparently.

B Corp certification provides an independent framework that helps us measure our impact, identify opportunities to improve and hold ourselves accountable through regular recertification.

Is Micro Scooters still a Certified B Corporation?

Yes. Micro Scooters Ltd remains a fully Certified B Corporation™.

We are currently certified under B Lab's V1.6 certification standards and have formally committed to recertifying under B Lab's new standards (V2.1) at our next scheduled recertification in 2028. Until then, we continue to meet B Lab's certification requirements and remain part of the global B Corp community.

Why is Micro Scooters certified under the V1.6 B Corp standards?

B Lab has introduced a new generation of B Corp standards through a phased transition.

Rather than requiring every Certified B Corp to recertify immediately, businesses are moving to the new standards at their scheduled recertification date. Our next recertification is due in 2028, so we remain certified under the current standards until then.

When will Micro Scooters recertify under the new B Corp standards?

Our next scheduled B Corp recertification is in 2028.

We have already signed B Lab's transition agreement and are preparing to recertify against the new standards at that time. Until then, we continue to review and improve our business practices across governance, workers, community, environment and customer stewardship.

What does Micro Scooters' B Corp score mean?

Our current verified B Corp score is 100.5.

Up until March 2026, to become a Certified B Corporation®, businesses had to achieve a minimum verified score of 80 points. We improved our score from our previous certification, reflecting progress across the areas assessed by B Lab.

A B Corp score is not a percentage or product rating. It is a verified measure of a company's performance at the time of assessment across governance, workers, community, environment and customers.

Does B Corp certification apply to Micro Scooters products?

No. B Corp certification applies to Micro Scooters Ltd as a business, not to individual scooters, helmets or accessories.

Our certification should not be interpreted as confirmation that a particular product is more environmentally friendly or has a lower environmental impact than another product.

Where we make specific claims about our products, such as materials, durability, repairability or product testing, those claims are separate from our B Corp certification and are supported by appropriate evidence where applicable.

What does B Corp certification not cover?

B Corp certification does not certify individual products, manufacturing sites or environmental claims about specific products.

It also does not guarantee that every aspect of a business has a positive environmental impact. Instead, it assesses how a company manages its overall social and environmental performance and its commitment to continuous improvement.

How has Micro Scooters improved as a B Corp?

Continuous improvement is a core part of B Corp certification.

Since our first certification in 2022, we have increased our verified B Corp score to 100.5 by strengthening our performance across the areas assessed by B Lab. We continue to improve our governance, support our employees, strengthen our community impact and develop our environmental management practices as we prepare to recertify under the new, more rigorous standards in 2028.

How does B Corp certification support Micro Scooters' approach to sustainability?

B Corp certification is one part of our wider approach to responsible business.

It provides an independent framework for measuring and improving how we operate as a company. Alongside our B Corp certification, we work to improve product durability, offer spare parts and repairs where possible, comply with relevant product safety and environmental legislation, and publish information that helps customers make informed decisions.

We believe transparency is an important part of responsible business, which is why we aim to explain what our certification means, what it doesn't mean and how we're continuing to improve.

Why does this page explain your B Corp certification in so much detail?

We want customers to understand exactly what our B Corp certification covers. It applies to Micro Scooters Ltd as a business and should not be interpreted as certification of individual products.
