Win a stay at Aller Farm POSTED ON 18/10/2019

With increasing numbers of families planning staycations here in the UK for spring 2020, had you thought about trying a farm stay?
Even better – how about a ‘luxury glamping’ farm stay?
With your own hot tub, sumptuous double beds, feather duvets, and cosy log-burning stoves and a view of the rolling green fields, and beautiful Holstein Friesian dairy cows. Emma and Nigel and the Parris family have been welcoming guests onto Aller Farm since 2008, the home of three generations of the Parris family dairy farmers.
We asked Ali Clifford, freelance writer and marketing consultant at incredibusy.com, to share her family’s experience of glamping and tell us more about Emma and Nigel and Aller Farm Glamping (and do read on to find out how you can WIN a FREE Night Stay* worth £140 in one of their luxury safari tents and a Micro Wagon to transport your luggage, worth £69.95.)
“We love it down here in North Devon – it really is a lovely spot amongst the gentle herd of dairy cows – it’s pretty easy to get to, just a couple of hours from London, and well located to visit the pretty seaside towns of Lyme Regis and Charmouth and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage canteen, if you fancy a treat.
We have stayed with Emma and Nigel a couple of times, as a family of four, and also in a big group of friends, taking all three of their ‘safari-tent’ style glamping tents. So much easier than regular camping, as everything is here waiting for you – Fully equipped kitchen, with a wood burning stove, cafetiere, enamelware and cool chest. AND with your own private bathroom with hand basin, flushing loo and fabulous hot running shower in a tin enclosure.
Sleeping up to 6, double room, a separate bunk room and a magical cupboard bed the kids LOVE (and – bonus – bed linen is provided)
We really enjoyed the challenge (and reward) of heating up the hot tub and Emma’s home-made pizzas baked in her outdoor log-fired pizza oven.
Aller Farm has 350-acres of beautiful countryside for us to share with the cows who roam free and happy. Nigel’s informative farm tour was a great hit with the kids. The boys even got to milk a cow!
Emma and Nigel are proud that Aller Farm is also under the Environmental Stewardship Scheme, which ensures that the farm’s natural environment is managed as sensitively as possible. The restored orchard has a great range of mixed apple trees, and with the thick hedges also laden with fruit in early autumn – a real feast for us foragers (and for Emma, as she loves making blackberry jam and apple crumbles for her guests).
There are also plenty of free-range laying hens, we got to look after our own chickens for the weekend, and our boys rose to the challenge, and made us fresh scrambled eggs for breakfast. What a treat!”
